TPC Art Finance’s Managing Director Naomi Baigell joined a panel discussion presented by EXPO CHGO ONLINE. The panel titled Collection Management Best Practices was streamed on Monday, April 12 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. CT via YouTube LIVE.
Moderating the panel was Kate Sierzputkowski from EXPO CHGO with guests Elizabeth Amundsen, Vice President of Business Development at Gurr Johns, and Marisa Murillo, Partner at the Chicago office of K&L Gates, alongside Baigell.
The diverse panel of seasoned art-world figures examined the best practices for managing one’s art collection and how the Covid-19 pandemic has created a shift in the industry and art market. The panelists discussed their thoughts on how the pandemic has changed collection management practices, including their strategies for connecting with clients virtually, conducting at-home appraisals, and networking without galleries or art fairs. The panelists also gave their advice to new collectors and shared their optimism for a stronger and more innovative art industry in the wake of the pandemic.
Baigell advised to not be fearful in regard to new outreach strategies and to take time to watch the art industry play out rather than be overly reactive because we are all experiencing this together.
